From Grade 11, Biology becomes an elective that students choose for themselves, five lesson hours every week. EduPoint biology tutoring helps students work through the processes nobody can see with the naked eye, such as organelles at work, protein synthesis and nerve signalling, starting at Rp79,000 per hour.

SMA biology tutoring is private Biology support for Grade 10 to 12 students, with a tutor EduPoint matches to each learner, at home or online. Under the 2025 outcomes, Grade 10 meets Biology inside Science; from Grade 11, the cell, genetics and ecology chapters sit in an elective of 5 lesson hours a week. Fees start at Rp79,000 per hour.
Pick the format that fits the school timetable and lab work. The listed rates assume 28 meetings a month, and the registration form recalculates the total for a smaller number.
A biology tutor comes to the student's home. It suits students who focus better when they can sketch cell diagrams or cross grids together on paper.

Private biology tutoring follows the way the subject moves between Grade 10 and Grade 11. The Grade 11 and 12 split below comes from the sample learning sequence in the 2025 Biology guide, and each school may order the topics its own way.
Grade 10 has no stand-alone Biology subject yet. Its content sits in Science alongside Physics and Chemistry, and schools may teach it separately or as an integrated environmental project. The tutor first looks at how the student's school organises Science, then plans the order of study around it.

Focus Areas:
Students who choose Biology meet its most abstract material here: organelles, membrane transport, enzymes, metabolism and how organ systems respond to stimuli. Protein synthesis usually starts this year too, so DNA, RNA and protein need to be solid before genetics comes along.

Focus Areas:
Grade 12 mixes calculation with reasoning: Mendelian crosses, inheritance patterns in humans, the mechanisms of evolution, and modern biotechnology with its bioethics. For students taking Biology as a TKA elective, this is also the year to revisit circulation, respiration, excretion, immunity and reproduction.

Focus Areas:
Six topic groups a high school biology tutor uses to map what a student already understands. Each group is matched to the official essential content of the 2025 outcomes, so the student always knows which part is being strengthened.
Inquiry skills (observing, forming hypotheses, controlling variables, analysing data and arguing from evidence) run through every topic, because the Phase F outcomes treat them as one with biological understanding.
Cells are too small to watch directly, so the tutor works with micrographs, models and simulations until organelles feel like working parts.
The focus is on how organ systems work together when the body responds to internal and external stimuli, as the Phase F outcomes put it.
The most term-heavy part of the course. The tutor builds it up step by step: genes, chromosomes, DNA, and only then the cross calculations.
Students learn to weigh the theories and evidence of evolution, then connect them to the biodiversity they first met in Grade 10.
Under the 2025 outcomes, biotechnology now belongs to Phase F. Students learn how the processes work and how to think through their ethics.
Grade 10 material from the Science subject that still appears in the TKA Biology blueprint, so Grade 12 students often need to review it.
What a high school student needs from Biology depends on the grade, the electives chosen and the plans after graduation.
In Grade 10, the study of living things shares its hours with Physics and Chemistry under the Science label. Tutoring helps the student pull the biology ideas apart and think about whether to take Biology as a Grade 11 elective.
Recommended:
The jump is big: cells, enzymes, membrane transport and organ systems arrive together at 5 lesson hours a week. A student who wants a different elective still has until the end of the even semester in Grade 11 to change.
Recommended:
Preparing for TKA Biology means reviewing Grade 10 and 11 material and practising reasoning questions set in health, environmental and agricultural contexts.

For the SNBP route into Medicine, the supporting subjects are Biology and/or Chemistry. Tutoring keeps the student's Biology in good order through Grades 11 and 12.

Biology education research in Indonesian schools has measured fairly high misconception rates in several topics. Here are five of them and how a biology tutor works through each one.
Why it happens
One study of 60 Grade 12 students found 52.60% held misconceptions, mostly about pairing nitrogen bases, how translation ends and the order of the steps. It all happens at the molecular level, which makes it hard to picture.
How we fix it
The tutor uses simulations and has the student write out DNA, mRNA, tRNA and the amino acid chain by hand until each step can be explained in their own words.
Why it happens
Research with 105 Grade 11 students found 38.91% held misconceptions about immunity. They remembered the names of cells and antibodies while the order of the response stayed blurry.
How we fix it
The student follows a single infection from the first exposure to recovery, placing each type of cell at its own stage.
Why it happens
A study across six high schools recorded a moderate misconception level of 47.51% on coordination systems, especially nerve function, the senses and hormones. Rote memorising was one of the causes.
How we fix it
The tutor uses everyday stimuli, such as a sudden fright or hunger, to show when nerves react quickly and when hormones take over.
Why it happens
Genetics is full of terms and symbols, and cross calculations demand care. Missing a single gamete throws the whole phenotype ratio off.
How we fix it
The student practises listing gametes and filling in the cross grid systematically, then checks the result against ratios they already know.
Why it happens
The 2025 Biology guide notes that cell structures are hard to observe directly because they are so small, so many students know organelles only by name and shape.
How we fix it
The tutor ties each organelle to its role in one complete process, for example the route a protein takes from the ribosome out of the cell.
The official TKA Biology blueprint itself names misconceptions as a barrier to analysis and inquiry. That is why the first session goes into finding the ideas a student has mixed up before any new material is added.
Meet six tutors who studied Biology or Biology Education at university. Their names appear as a nickname and initial, while the campus and major match the education history each of them entered when registering as a tutor. EduPoint finds each grade 10 to 12 learner a tutor who fits the chapter in progress, their location and a workable schedule.

Biology Education, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
Unpacking genetics from genes to crosses“Biology Education at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia gave Gerry a habit of building material in steps, so grade 12 genetics starts with where genes sit on a chromosome before moving on to cross calculations.”

Biology, Universitas Negeri Jakarta
Grade 10 ecosystems and climate change“Ecosystems and climate change in grade 10 Science are easiest to grasp through examples close to home. Ami, a Biology graduate of Universitas Negeri Jakarta, likes to start from small observations like these before introducing the terms.”

Biology, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya
Reading graphs and experimental data“Analytical biology questions often present a table or graph of experimental results. Jundana studied Biology at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya and walks learners through the variables, patterns, and conclusions in that data one at a time.”

Biology, Universitas Gadjah Mada
Cells and organelles through microscope images“Organelles become easier to picture when seen through microscope images and models. That is where Ava, a Biology alumna of Universitas Gadjah Mada, begins when guiding grade 11 learners into the chapter on cells and metabolism.”

Biology Education, UIN Raden Intan Lampung
Organ systems as one connected network“For Yesi, the nervous, hormonal, and immune systems make more sense when studied as one network of body responses. Her Biology Education background at UIN Raden Intan Lampung means she is used to drawing concept maps across chapters for grades 11 and 12.”

Biology Education, Universitas Negeri Surabaya
Organising practice for assessments and the TKA“Ahead of school assessments or the TKA, Ica helps learners sort out which chapters need another review and which can be covered through practice questions. She graduated in Biology Education from Universitas Negeri Surabaya.”

SMA Biology is built like a staircase, and a missed step usually shows up two semesters later. In Grade 10, students will not find a subject called Biology on their timetable. Its content sits inside Science alongside Physics and Chemistry, with a combined 216 lesson hours of classroom time a year, and each school decides how much of that goes to biology. The topics are classifying living things, the roles of viruses, bacteria and fungi, interactions within ecosystems, and climate change.
Once in Grade 11, students who take Biology get 5 lesson hours a week, roughly 180 hours in Grade 11 and 160 in Grade 12. The sample learning sequence in the 2025 Biology Guide places cell organelles, cell division, membrane transport, enzymes, metabolism, organ systems and protein synthesis in Grade 11. Grade 12 moves on to Mendelian crosses, human inheritance patterns, evolution, growth and development, and modern biotechnology.
Two links deserve attention early. The first link: the DNA, RNA and protein pathway from Grade 11 is what makes genes and alleles understandable once crosses are taught a year later. The second link: biodiversity and ecosystems from Grade 10 return when students study the evidence for evolution and how climate change affects where organisms live. Schools may arrange their own order, so the most useful first step is to hold this map up against the student's own school syllabus.
Ahead of Grade 11, each student settles on 4 or 5 electives out of the seven or more their school runs. The choice has a clear consequence: a student who leaves out Biology has no more Biology lessons at school until graduation.
The question that comes up most is university plans. For SNBP entry to Medicine, the listed supporting subjects are Biology and/or Chemistry. The UTBK-SNBT 2026, on the other hand, has seven reasoning and literacy subtests with no Biology paper, so Biology counts in state university admission mainly through report-card grades, SNBP supporting subjects and the TKA. These points are worth talking through with the school counsellor before the elective form goes in.
The next consideration comes from Grade 10 itself. Students who enjoyed the ecosystem or microorganism chapters in Science, and who can learn terminology while following how a process actually runs, already have a foundation for the far more abstract Phase F workload.
The choice can also be changed. Under Permendikdasmen 13/2025, a change of elective is still accepted up to the second semester of Grade 11. A student who moves into Biology partway through has to catch up on material already covered, such as organelles and membrane transport, while keeping pace with new chapters in class. Private SMA biology tutoring can be planned around exactly that kind of catch-up, in an order that follows the class schedule.
School tests and the TKA mostly ask how a biological process works, so the most useful practice is the kind that has students write out or draw the process themselves. A few habits are worth trying.
Redraw from memory. Close the book and draw an animal cell, a nephron or the heart with labels. Then compare it with the book and mark anything you left out. Those marked parts are tomorrow's review.
Write processes as numbered steps. Transcription and translation, the stages of mitosis, or the path of a nerve impulse get written out step by step without notes. Wherever a step gets skipped, understanding is still patchy.
Work through one full cross every day. Write the parental genotypes, every possible gamete, the Punnett square and the phenotype ratio. Listing every gamete each time keeps students accurate on dihybrid crosses and the apparent exceptions to Mendel's laws.
Train inquiry skills. Take one table or graph of experimental results from the textbook, identify the independent, dependent and controlled variables, and write a single conclusion the data supports. This skill is part of the Phase F curriculum and is tested in the TKA too.
Thirty minutes a day spent redrawing a cell or solving one cross tends to last longer than cramming the night before a test. Any chapter still fuzzy can be replayed from the lesson recordings and practice sets in the student's own app.edupoint.id account.
Biology teachers assess students through a wide range of tasks. The 2025 Biology Guide gives examples of diagnostic assessment through questioning or a short test, formative assessment through diagram rubrics, presentations, discussions, 3D DNA models and worksheets, and summative assessment through lab reports, project tasks, written exams and case-study analysis. Students who are used to writing reports with clear variables, data and conclusions are better placed for all of these.
On the SMA TKA, Biology sits on the elective list, and each candidate adds two electives to the three compulsory papers. The official blueprint covers biodiversity, bacteria, ecosystems, cell metabolism, the circulatory, respiratory, excretory, immune, coordination and reproductive systems, plus inquiry skills. Questions are set in health, environmental, agricultural and sociocultural contexts at three levels: understanding, application and reasoning. The released biology samples mix standard multiple choice with a complex format in which several options may be correct.
One detail matters here: the organ-system coverage in the TKA blueprint is more detailed than the Phase F essential content table, so Grade 12 students need to revisit chapters their class may no longer be covering. For 2026, the Biology paper is sat inside the national testing window of 26 October to 8 November. For reference, the national Biology average in the 2025 TKA was 54.40. A sensible order of preparation starts by finding the weakest chapters on the blueprint, then reviewing the concepts, then practising timed case-based questions.
Biology lesson time is best spent on whichever chapter is holding the student back, be it membrane transport, dihybrid crosses or the immune system. Enrolment takes four steps: a consultation first, then the student's schedule and learning needs are noted, EduPoint finds a suitable high school biology tutor, and the first meeting goes ahead.
Bring school material to the first session: the notebook, worksheets, the latest test results and, if available, the learning sequence the teacher follows. Those notes and worksheets tell the tutor where the class has reached and how the teacher likes to set questions. Tutors usually also ask the student to explain one process in their own words, since misconceptions show up more readily when spoken aloud. A study of membrane transport among 35 Grade 11 students, for example, found only 28% with full understanding and 49% with partial understanding.
Meeting length follows the target. One hour is enough to finish a single concept such as the Krebs cycle, 90 minutes fits an explanation plus practice questions, and 120 minutes leaves time for a TKA Biology simulation. Biology lessons can be booked between 06:00 and 23:00, with a monthly plan ranging from 4 sessions up to 28.
Progress notes sent over WhatsApp show which biology chapters are secure and which need another pass. Should the match with a tutor feel off, the student can use the tutor replacement guarantee, and the search continues from the details already on file.
