More than 3.4 million students sat the 2025 TKA Mathematics paper for senior high school, and the national average came in at 36.10. Indonesia's assessment centre (Pusmendik) said the concepts tested were simple; what tripped students up were conditional questions tied to data in a table. EduPoint's high school math tutors work on both: each chapter of the school syllabus, and the habit of reading a question all the way to its last condition.

Private high school math tutoring is one tutor working with one student on Mathematics for grades 10, 11 and 12, including Advanced Mathematics and TKA preparation. The tutor comes to the student's home or teaches online, starting from IDR 79,000 per hour. Sessions follow the chapter currently taught at school and train careful reading of table-based conditional questions.
Choose the format that suits how the student learns. Pair or trio lessons work well for classmates who are on the same chapter.
One short chapter, or homework and quiz review, in a single hour.
Price on the 28-session monthly plan, 60-minute sessions. Fewer meetings, higher price per session.
Enough time for a new concept and practice in the same session, such as derivatives or conditional probability.
Price on the 28-session monthly plan, 90-minute sessions. Fewer meetings, higher price per session.
Two students on the same chapter learn together with one tutor. Price is per student.
Price on the 28-session monthly plan, 90-minute sessions. Fewer meetings, higher price per session.
Three students with similar goals, for example practising for TKA together. Price is per student.
Price on the 28-session monthly plan, 90-minute sessions. Fewer meetings, higher price per session.
Online and in-person cost the same — the gap between these cards is session length, nothing else.
Indonesia's Kurikulum Merdeka splits senior high school Mathematics into Phase E for grade 10 and a two-year Phase F for grades 11 and 12. EduPoint math tutors plan lessons around where the student sits on this map.
The first year of SMA introduces fractional exponents, exponential equations and functions, imaginary roots of quadratics, and sine, cosine and tangent on acute angles. Much of grade 11 is built on this, so the tutor makes sure exponent rules and algebraic manipulation are solid early on.

Focus Areas:
Phase F spans two years and ties maths to everyday decisions: sequences and series, simple and compound interest, loans, investment and annuities, then inverse, composite and transformed functions. Geometry moves on to circles, while probability grows into compound events, permutations and combinations.
Subjects:
Focus Areas:
Students who choose Advanced Mathematics (Matematika Tingkat Lanjut) in grades 11 and 12 meet calculus and denser algebra. A calculus tutor builds the bridge from grade 10 functions and trigonometry first, because trigonometric limits and derivatives lean heavily on that material.
Subjects:
Focus Areas:
In grade 12, TKA math preparation focuses on questions that ask students to model a real situation, pick a strategy and interpret the result. For UTBK-SNBT, practice targets the Quantitative Knowledge and Mathematical Reasoning subtests.

Each module maps to an element of the Mathematics learning outcomes set in BSKAP decree No. 046/H/KR/2025, with Advanced Mathematics and reasoning drills added on top. Tutors start from the chapter the student is on in class.
Module order may differ from this list. Students on Kurikulum 2013, Cambridge IGCSE, AS/A Level, IB Diploma Programme or Kurikulum Nasional Plus are mapped to their own school syllabus.
From grade 10 exponents to sequences, series and money calculations in Phase F. Students see why compound interest outgrows simple interest and how an annuity sets loan repayments.
The longest strand of high school Mathematics. Quadratic and exponential functions appear in grade 10, then lead into composite, inverse and transformed functions. Many students stall when a growth or decay word problem asks them to build the model themselves.
Trigonometry starts with side ratios in right triangles in grade 10. In Phase F, geometry turns to circles: their parts, theorems, arc length and sector area.
High school statistics trains students to read charts critically, including judging statistical claims in the news. In grades 11 and 12 it moves on to trend lines and probability with conditions attached.
For students taking Advanced Mathematics. Limits grow out of a solid grasp of functions, derivatives describe gradients and curve shapes, and integrals complete the high school calculus sequence.
Practice with questions that pair a simple concept with layered conditions and table data, the pattern Pusmendik highlighted in the 2025 TKA results. Every question is reviewed until the student can explain the steps in their own words.
High school maths learners arrive with different needs, and the tutor adjusts to each one.
The step up from junior high shows in exponential functions and trigonometry. Lessons in the first year lay a base that carries through to grade 12.

Maths education research keeps finding difficulties in the chapters below. A private math tutor starts with the cause underneath each one.
Why it happens
Students solve the basic equation and stop, while the question asks for every angle in a given interval. Grade 11 misconceptions often trace back to grade 10 ideas that were never quite right.
How we fix it
The tutor returns to the unit circle and side ratios, then has the student list every qualifying angle before writing the solution set.
Why it happens
Growth and decay questions ask students to turn a story into a function. Misapplied logarithm rules and rushing make it worse.
How we fix it
Students write down what is known, what changes each period and the shape of the function before calculating anything. Logarithm rules are drilled separately until they come easily.
Why it happens
This is the difficulty the head of Pusmendik pointed to in the 2025 TKA Mathematics results. The concept is simple, yet conditions spread across the question text and the table are easy to miss.
How we fix it
The tutor builds the habit of marking every condition and matching it to a table row before choosing an answer, including in complex multiple choice format.
Why it happens
Student errors on trigonometric limits fall into three kinds: conceptual, operational and errors of principle. Each one needs a different fix.
How we fix it
The tutor reads the student's working to see which kind of error it is and repairs it from there: concepts revisited with graphs, operations practised again, principles shown on step-by-step problems.
Every student stalls somewhere different. The first session is used to find which chapter needs attention first.
EduPoint looks after the process: the right chapter, a well-matched tutor, and reports the student can actually read.
The tutor looks at recent test results and how the student works through problems, then decides which high school maths chapter comes first.
EduPoint finds a tutor based on what the student needs, whether compulsory Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics or an international syllabus. If the fit is off, the tutor can be replaced.
Regular reports note which topics are secure and which need more work, so the next session has a clear direction.
At app.edupoint.id the student opens self-study material, recordings and report cards. Online sessions use screen sharing and a digital whiteboard.
A math lesson can sit before the school day, in the afternoon, or in the evening, and lasts 60, 90 or 120 minutes.
Six high school maths tutors ready to work with learners. The major and university on each card come from their education records, and each learner is matched by grade, by the general or Advanced Mathematics track, and by their TKA target.

Mathematics, Institut Teknologi Bandung
Limits and derivatives from a sketched graph“Limits and derivatives start to make sense when a learner watches what happens on a function's graph as a point slides closer and closer. Ratu, who studied Mathematics at Institut Teknologi Bandung, often opens the Advanced Mathematics calculus chapters from a sketch like that.”

Mathematics, Universitas Indonesia
Mathematical reasoning for TKA and university entrance“Reasoning items in the TKA and university entrance tests check how a learner reads tables, graphs, and conditional statements. Faishal comes from the Mathematics programme at Universitas Indonesia, and with grade 12 learners he unpacks items like these step by step before any calculation starts.”

Mathematics, Universitas Jember
Statistics and probability from data learners collect“Box plots, quartiles, and conditional probability are easier to absorb when the data is collected by the learner, such as classmates' heights or a small draw at the study desk. Dewi, who studied Mathematics at Universitas Jember, often works this way.”

Mathematics, Universitas Gadjah Mada
Trigonometry and circles through drawing“When trigonometric equations start to feel like memorisation, Sutan usually has the learner draw the unit circle first, until the sine and cosine values in each quadrant show their pattern. He comes from the Mathematics programme at Universitas Gadjah Mada.”

Mathematics Education, Universitas Negeri Jakarta
Quadratic and composite functions in stages“Tri studied Mathematics Education at Universitas Negeri Jakarta, where planning a learning sequence was part of the training. In the chapters on quadratic, inverse, and composite functions, he breaks the material into short steps so grade 10 learners can see exactly where they get stuck.”

Mathematics Education, Universitas Negeri Malang
Sequences, series, and compound interest through everyday examples“Compound interest, annuities, and geometric series in grade 10 involve calculations much like real savings and instalments. Silvia studied Mathematics Education at Universitas Negeri Malang and likes using examples of that kind so learners can spot the pattern of the formula themselves.”

The number of sessions picked in the registration form sets the final bill, so the full breakdown appears when you sign up. The bill can be settled by any method the student finds easiest, from a bank transfer or Virtual Account to QRIS, an e-wallet, a card, or the counter at Alfamart or Indomaret.
Short answers to what high school students, and whoever registers them, ask most.
High school math in Indonesia is built like a staircase, and the bottom steps sit in grade 10. In Phase E, students work with powers and the laws of exponents, quadratic equations including imaginary roots, exponential functions, and sine, cosine and tangent for acute angles. Those chapters rarely stand alone. The laws of exponents come back when students calculate compound interest and annuities in Phase F, and quadratic functions become raw material for modelling, composition and inverse functions in grade 11.
Statistics follows the same path. Quartiles, box plots, histograms and scatter plots in grade 10 prepare students for linear best-fit models and for the discussion of association between variables in grades 11 and 12. Probability climbs step by step too, from simple events to compound events, independent and mutually exclusive events, conditional probability, and finally permutations and combinations.
That is why trouble in grade 11 often has an address in grade 10. A student stuck on composite functions usually needs to revisit how to simplify algebraic expressions. A student confused by trigonometric equations is often still uneasy with side ratios in a right triangle. In high school math tutoring, the tutor traces that chain backwards until the loose link turns up, strengthens it, and then returns to the chapter currently being taught at school. Lesson time goes to the root of the problem, and schoolwork stays on track.
Students who come to a math lesson carrying their own questions get more out of the hour, and good questions grow out of solo practice. A simple routine to try: each time a new chapter is covered at school, work through three to five problems the same day, while the teacher's examples are still fresh. Start with problems that look like the examples, then move up to word problems that ask the student to build the model themselves.
Write down every step, including the ones that feel too easy to bother with. Research by math educators on growth and decay word problems found that students often stall when setting up the model, misapply the laws of logarithms, and tend to rush. Written steps make those slips visible, both to the student and to the tutor at the next session.
Keep an error log in one notebook or one file as well: which problem went wrong, at which step, and why. After a few weeks the log shows a pattern. One student keeps flipping the sign in inequalities, another forgets to restrict the interval when finding angles, and a third loses marks on the final line by writing the answer in a hurry.
Outside sessions, students can open self-study materials, recordings and progress reports at app.edupoint.id. Online session recordings, made with permission, are handy for replaying the explanation of an integral or a function graph right at the part that was unclear.
School tests and the TKA cover overlapping material in different ways. A school test usually follows one or two chapters that have just been finished, so preparing means practising those chapters from the most basic problems to the most varied ones. The TKA spans a much wider range of material, and its content draws on both Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka.
According to Pusmendik, the TKA math paper assesses facts, concepts, principles, procedures, and their application to problem solving. Students are asked to model real-life situations, choose suitable strategies and operations, and then interpret and explain mathematical statements. Questions come in three formats: multiple choice, complex multiple choice, and category items. Mathematics is one of three compulsory subjects, and students also pick two electives, one of which can be Advanced Mathematics.
The 2026 TKA for senior high school and its equivalents runs from 26 October to 8 November 2026, according to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and each subject gets 75 minutes. The 2025 results point to where students struggle: Pusmendik noted that many found conditional questions linked to data tables difficult, even though the concepts tested were fairly simple.
TKA practice in our high school math lessons follows that finding. Students get used to reading the table first, marking every condition in the question text, and then checking each statement in a complex multiple-choice item one at a time. As exam day approaches, timed mock sessions help students pace those 75 minutes calmly.
Advanced Mathematics (Matematika Tingkat Lanjut) is a Phase F elective for grades 11 and 12, and it can also be taken as one of the two TKA electives. Students who choose it meet limits, derivatives, integrals, matrices and vectors at a pace that feels quick, because each chapter becomes the footing for the next one.
Limits are the gateway. If the idea of a value being approached is still hazy, derivatives feel like a pile of formulas to memorise. A study of limits of trigonometric functions sorts student errors into three kinds: conceptual errors, operational errors, and errors in applying principles. That breakdown helps the tutor pick the right response, since a student with a conceptual gap needs a different approach from one who simply slipped during a calculation.
Derivatives are then used to find gradients, write equations of tangent lines, and read where a curve rises and falls. Integrals complete the high school calculus sequence. On the algebra side, matrices and vectors call for careful operations and the ability to picture direction and magnitude.
The easiest preparation starts before those chapters reach the classroom. A grade 10 or early grade 11 student planning to take Advanced Mathematics can use a few sessions to firm up functions, graphs and trigonometry, since all three feed directly into limits and derivatives. Mention this elective at the first consultation, so the calculus tutor we find for the student is used to teaching this material.
Tutoring hours for high school math are best spent on the chapters where a student is stuck, such as composite functions, trigonometric equations or limits. Step one is a consultation. In that conversation the student, or whoever signs them up, explains which grade and curriculum apply, when lessons can fit, and which math chapters need attention. EduPoint then arranges a tutor matched to that brief, and lessons start on the agreed date.
The first session works best as a diagnosis. Bring the latest test paper, the error log, and any problems that are still unsolved. The tutor will ask the student to work a few problems while explaining each step out loud, which shows whether the difficulty lies in the concept, in the algebra, or in how the question is read.
Session length can follow what the student needs. A 60-minute session suits one short chapter or a homework review, 90 minutes leaves room for a new concept plus practice, and 120 minutes works well for timed problem sets ahead of the TKA. Monthly plans range from 4 to 28 math sessions, each booked at an hour that suits the student from 06.00 until 23.00, held at home or online.
Progress updates arrive regularly on WhatsApp, listing the chapters that are now comfortable and those that still need work. If the tutor's teaching style does not click, the tutor can be replaced. Lessons start from IDR 79,000 per hour, and payment can be made by bank transfer, Virtual Account, QRIS, e-wallet, card, Alfamart or Indomaret.
