The prefix di- is always joined
Why it happens
Students join di- even for places.

di- is joined when it is a prefix (dimakan, ditulis), but separated when it is a preposition of place (di rumah, di sekolah).
Non-standard words treated as standard

Capital letters used randomly
Why it happens
Students capitalize words that should be lowercase.

Days, months, and ethnic groups are capitalized; compass directions are lowercase unless part of a region name like Jawa Barat.
Wordy sentences considered correct
Why it happens
Students use redundant word pairs.
How we fix it
Avoid redundancy like agar supaya, demi untuk, and naik ke atas. Choose one word for an effective sentence.
The me- prefix and sound assimilation are ignored
Why it happens
Students do not assimilate the first letter of the root.

The letters k, t, s, p assimilate after me- and pe-: menyapu not mensapu, memukul not mempukul.
