How much does a chess class cost per session at EduPoint?

Chess class fees start from IDR 75,000/session for small group classes and IDR 95,000-150,000/session for private 1-on-1 (90 minutes). The 8-session Regular Package at IDR 760,000 is the popular choice for kids and adult hobbyists. For serious tournament preparation with a FIDE Master, the Master Track Package is available from IDR 3,600,000 for 24 sessions (120 minutes each).

From what age can children join a chess class?

Children can be introduced to chess from age 5, but structured classes are most effective from age 7-8. At this age, kids can focus for 60-90 minutes, grasp cause-and-effect logic, and are motivated by achievement. Our coaches handling young learners are specifically trained with a fun approach: lots of play, light theory. Many of our young alumni are now active in Porseni and O2SN tournaments.

Are online chess classes as effective as in-person ones?

Online classes work excellently for teens and adults accustomed to screens - particularly for Chess.com/Lichess rating preparation, learning openings via master databases, and accessing FIDE Master coaches from other cities. In-person classes suit elementary kids aged 5-9 who aren't accustomed to screens, players preparing for over-the-board tournaments, and deep endgame practice. Many students combine both.

What qualifications do EduPoint chess tutors have?

Our coaches are senior practitioners with minimum 3 years of experience, including: National Masters (NM), Candidate Masters (CM), FIDE Masters (FM), PERCASI-certified coaches at regional/national level, and National Arbiters. Most hold a national Elo of 1800+, and the Master Track Package pairs you with a FIDE-titled coach. Background checks and rating verification are conducted for every coach.

How long does it take to significantly climb my Chess.com rating?

It depends on your starting level. From rating 700 to 1100 (beginner to developing level): generally 3-4 months at 2-3x/week practice. From 1100 to 1500: 6-9 months of consistent practice. From 1500 to 1800: 9-12 months of serious practice and regular tournaments. Climbing from 1800 to 2000+ takes 1-2 years and access to master-level coaches. Many students plateaued for years started climbing significantly after private lessons focused on game analysis.

Can chess classes prepare for O2SN or PERCASI tournaments?
