Tahfidz Lessons

What is Tahfidz Lessons?

Tahfidz lessons are a private tutoring program for memorizing the Al-Qur'an step by step, guided by a Hafidz (male) or Hafidzah (female) teacher who holds a sanad (an unbroken chain of transmission tracing back to the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). Every session uses the talaqqi method: the teacher recites first, the student listens and repeats, then presents the memorized portion directly. The program includes structured muraja'ah (revision of previously memorized portions) so that memorization is preserved and the quality of recitation is assured.

  • Authentic one-on-one talaqqi method with a certified Hafidz teacher
  • Sanad of recitation traced back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
  • Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil system for managing memorization
  • Structured muraja'ah as the core of memorization preservation
  • Digital progress tracking with reports for parents

Tahfidz Lesson Program Stages

The journey from building a recitation foundation to completing the full Al-Qur'an

1

Tahsin Preparation

Recitation Improvement as the Foundation for Memorization

A mandatory stage before memorization begins. Focus is on makharijul huruf (articulation points of each letter), fundamental tajwid rules, and reading fluency. Memorization that begins with incorrect recitation is very difficult to correct later.

Focus Areas:

  • Makharijul huruf for all 29 Hijaiyah letters
  • Rules of nun sakinah and tanwin
  • Rules of mim sakinah
  • Fluent reading page by page
2

Tahfidz Juz Amma

Memorization of 37 Surahs in Juz 30

The memorization program begins with Juz 30 (Juz Amma). Each session covers new memorization submission (Sabaq) and revision of previous memorization (Sabqi). Parents receive a daily muraja'ah guide.

Focus Areas:

  • One-on-one talaqqi method
  • Sabaq: daily new memorization submission
  • Sabqi: muraja'ah of memorization from the last few days
  • Mutqin per surah before proceeding
3

Advanced Tahfidz

Memorization of 5 Juz, 10 Juz, or 30 Juz

A continuing program after completing Juz Amma. Uses the Manzil system to preserve older memorization while adding new memorization. The Hafidz teacher provides guidance with realistic monthly targets.

Focus Areas:

  • Full Sabaq-Sabqi-Manzil system
  • Independent daily muraja'ah with a written guide
  • Periodic mutqin evaluation
  • Random memorization testing per juz

EduPoint Tahfidz Lesson Curriculum

A structured curriculum from recitation foundation to firm, mutqin memorization

Tahsin and Foundation Tajwid

Building a correct recitation foundation before memorization begins

  • Makharijul huruf: articulation points of all 29 Hijaiyah letters
  • Rules of nun sakinah: idhar, idgham, iqlab, ikhfa
  • Rules of mim sakinah and qalqalah
  • Waqaf and ibtida: correct stopping and starting rules
Talaqqi Method and Submission

Direct transmission of memorization from teacher to student, face to face

  • Talaqqi: the teacher recites, the student listens attentively then repeats
  • Musyafahah: observing the teacher's lip movement and makhraj directly
  • Submission technique: reciting without looking at the mushaf in front of the teacher
  • Immediate correction: the teacher corrects errors the moment they occur
Sabaq, Sabqi, and Manzil System

A three-layer memorization management system so both new and old memorization are preserved

  • Sabaq: today's new memorization, approximately 3-5 lines per session for beginners
  • Sabqi: revising memorization from the last 3-7 days before new submission
  • Manzil: muraja'ah of older memorization, at least 1 juz per cycle
  • Time proportion: 25% Sabaq, 35% Sabqi, 40% Manzil at the advanced level
Structured Muraja'ah

Systematic repetition of memorization so it does not fade

  • Muraja'ah fardy: independent daily revision, minimum 1 page per day
  • Muraja'ah ma'al musyrif: with the teacher each lesson session
  • Muraja'ah during salah: applying memorization in the five daily prayers
  • Muraja'ah ma'az zamil: paired revision with a friend or family member
Character and Motivation of the Memorizer

Spiritual and psychological foundations so the memorization journey can be sustained

  • Etiquette towards the Al-Qur'an: purity, facing the qiblah, and full presence of heart
  • Intention and motivation: memorizing as an act of worship with sincere dedication
  • Consistency management: making memorization a part of the daily routine
  • Parental support: the family's role in sustaining the child's commitment

Who Are These Tahfidz Lessons For?

The program is designed for all ages with an approach tailored to each individual

Primary School Children (ages 6-12)

The second-best age range for memorization. Primary school children can focus for longer and begin to understand verse context. Lessons 2-3 times a week with daily muraja'ah at home.

Recommended:

Target from Juz Amma up to 5 JuzRegular schedule 2-3 times per week

Teenagers and Adults

Teenagers and adults excel in understanding the meaning of verses, which strengthens memorization retention. Strong intrinsic motivation is the key asset. The main challenge is managing time alongside other commitments.

Parents Who Want to Guide Their Child

Many parents want to supervise their child's memorization but feel uncertain because they are not hafidz themselves. This dedicated program teaches parents how to listen to their child's recitation, provide basic corrections, and build a daily muraja'ah routine at home.

Tahfidz Journey Success Stories

Real transformations of EduPoint Tahfidz lesson students

Success

From Hesitant Recitation to Hafidz of Juz Amma

Shofi H. (9 years old, grade 3 primary school)

Challenge

A weak recitation foundation caused memorization to get confused and fail to become mutqin. Tahsin improvement was needed before submission could begin.

Shofi used to cry because memorizing was so hard. Now he is the one most eager to ask for lessons every day.

Success

Mother of Two Completes 5 Juz Target

Zulva Z. (age 33, homemaker)

Challenge

Much of the old memorization had been forgotten. An intensive Manzil strategy was needed to restore the old memorization while adding new portions simultaneously.

My key has been 20 minutes of muraja'ah every morning after Fajr without missing a day. Having the ustazah who kept reminding me of the schedule truly kept me from giving up.

Success

High School Student Achieves 10 Juz Alongside Exam Preparation

Fajar R. (age 17, high school student)

Challenge

School and academic tutoring schedules were very tight. A flexible lesson arrangement was needed that would not interfere with national exam preparation.

Online lessons helped a great deal because I could still do my submission even when I was away from home for an olympiad.
